Welcome! I am currently Deputy Director and a Research Fellow at the Oriental Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences focusing on the history, culture, and politics of Iran. I previously held positions at the Library of Congress (Kluge Fellow), U.S. Naval Academy (Visiting Professor, Class of 1955 Chair in Middle East Studies), and Roshan Institute for Persian Studies at the University of Maryland (SSRC Postdoctoral Fellow for Transregional Research). I write frequently about Iran, the Middle East, and U.S. foreign policy in academic outlets and the international press. I also manage the 9/11 Legacies Project, which maps the many forgotten, marginalized, and misunderstood legacies of the Global War on Terror that continue to shape our world today. You can find my latest writings here or visit the publications page for a more comprehensive look.
